TPP Characteristics
Investor/ Developer Driven Model
In this open access model [TPP] the investor/developer takes the lead, financing and developing the entire solar power plant on their own capital.
Power Purchase Agreement [PPA]
A binding contract is signed between the plant investor and the off-taker (Power Consumer )for a short , medium and long term, typically ranging from 3 to 25 years. The creditworthiness of the consumer plays a role, with a minimum rating of BBB+ often required.
PPA Tariff at generation
Normally the PPA tariff is determined and billed at the point where it's generated within the power plant, before transmission and wheeling losses.
Consumer/Off-taker pays the additional charges
Consumers are obligated to pay the PPA tariff along with additional charges regulated by the state government, such as wheeling, transmission, additional surcharges and cross-subsidy surcharges.
